Man Accused Of Murdering Stepfather, Stabbing Mother During Domestic Dispute In McLean

Adam Timothy Jackson, Jr., 39, is being held without bond after being charged with the murder of his father, 68-year-old Alan Miller Kaufmann in their McLean home on Tuesday, Jan. 10.

Fairfax County Police Second Lt. James Curry said that officers were called shortly after 11 p.m. on Tuesday night to the 1200 block of Colonial Road in McLean when a woman reported that her son had stabbed both she and her husband.

Upon arrival at the home, officials say that Jackson was taken into custody while exiting the residence, and responding officers located Kaufmann suffering from traumatic injuries to his upper body.

Life-saving measures were taken by first responders, according to investigators, but Kaufmann was pronounced dead at the scene by Fairfax County Fire and Rescue personnel. The woman who called the police was taken to an area hospital for treatment of injuries described as being non-life-threatening.

Jackson was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where the was charged with second-degree murder and is being held without bond.

Officials say that Kaufmann's body is being transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause and manner of death.

The investigation into the murder is ongoing, "with detectives continuing to conduct interviews, collect video surveillance, and process evidence recovered from the scene to determine the circumstances that led up to the fatal stabbing."
